Jane Seymour died on 24 October 1537 twelve days after giving birth to the future Edward VI. Henry VIII was devastated. He wore black for three months and cancelled all court celebrations. He did not remarry for over a year. When Henry died in 1547 he left specific instructions to be buried beside Jane at Windsor Castle. She was the only wife he chose to spend eternity with.

INTERESTING FACT Henry VIII had six wives. He executed two, divorced two, and one survived him. Jane was the only one who died while still his queen and still in his favour. She gave him the son he had wanted for thirty years. He never forgave himself for her death.
